Frankie say.....updates

So it's been a while since i was here with any Frankie & related updates and as a result you would think that i now have a shed load of information to share with you, right?
Well yes and no would be the answer.
There are snippets to tell but no huge amounts of information are forthcoming about the projects we are going to read about today, however each one brings with it a little more to look forward to over the coming months.

News is out on the web that ZTT are to release another 2CD compilation of Frankie Goes To Hollywood mixes and rareties (can there be many left we wonder?) and the rumour is that it is to be entitled 'Sex Mixes'. Due for release in June 2012 there were rumours that it was to include Frankie's early Demo version of the Grace Jones hit Slave to the Rhythm, however these rumours were quickly dispelled (disaproval by band members maybe?).

Nasher has been hard at work adding the finishing touches to his Autobiography which i can no confirm is due for release in the UK during September and is available to pre-order. Although not Nashers personal choice for the title 'Nasher says Relax' promises to reveal the other side of the Frankie story from the one already told by Holly Johnson is his book 'A Bone in my Flute'.

Staying with Nasher, he continues to work hard in the studio with Liverpudlian outfit Ground Pilots producing their Debut album 'In The Way of The Oceans' which is also due for release later this year. Nasher has brought in  former compatriot Niol Sweeney recently to work on tracks for the album and the early opinion is that the album could be a killer project for all involved

Holly Johnson - Soulstream Deluxe Edition

Released on 26/09/2011
‘Soulstream’ is the third solo album by Holly Johnson, the former lead singer of Frankie Goes To Hollywood. This expanded 2 disc re-issue of 'Soulstream' includes a bonus disc collecting together and celebrating the many dance remixes that were commissioned to promote the album on the queercore dance floors of the time as well as other rarities. It also comes with an extensive 24 page booklet containing lyrics, period photos and an introduction by Holly himself. Originally released in 1999, it was recorded initially in Holly’s home studio with additional strings and brass added in Angel, CTS and Metropolis Studios where it was mastered by Ian Cooper. Originally released on his own ‘Pleasuredome’ record label, the album contains the singles ‘Hallelujah’, ‘Disco Heaven’ and a re-working of his hit song with Frankie Goes to Hollywood, ‘The Power Of Love’.

Another highlight is an update of his resolutelydefiant 1994 anthem ‘Legendary Children (All of Them Queer)’; recorded at a time of immense challenge in Holly’s life due to ill health, it remains one of the most life-affirming of his releases.
